Wednesday

We have a famous person in our class today. Kaden brought along a magazine called "That's Life" and it has his picture in it. Come along and look at it on our class notice board.
We have been learning about anticlockwise and clockwise turns, left and right as well as north, south, east and west. We learnt NEVER EAT SOGGY WEETBIX! or NAUGHTY ELEPHANTS SPRAY WATER! Ask us about it at home. We got to play a game during maths called Captains coming, a fun way to practice our compass points.
Remember our fun afternoon on Friday - keep your fingers crossed for a fine day.

Monday

We do lots at school even if we don't remember when we get home. Saying nothing is easy - even for big kids. We might make that a goal for our class - WE WILL TELL YOU MORE!
We had to do a test this morning in Maths - all this week we will be having different tests. They will let Mrs Cooper know what we know!!
It was a wet day lunch again - it is good that we have some games in our class to play. It is important that we don't bring our own toys to school - they might get lost or broken and that would not be nice for us.
Even though it was a wet weekend some of us went swimming at Century Pool, others went to the library or out driving in the puddles. Jenna Rae even did the triathlon yesterday - she swam, ran and biked - WOW a great effort. Mrs Cooper spent the weekend filling buckets of water - her downstairs got flooded.

WET FRIDAY

Today was too wet for us to do our House Fun Afternoon. This will now happen next Friday so lets hope that it will be a nice day. We will also have House Colour Mufti day then too. That will happen wet or fine. We don't need to bring any money if we already paid today.
We need to remember to bring our Parent Interview forms back next week. More homework for our Parents to do :)

Our caterpillars are growing but none of the eggs have hatched yet.

Swan Plants

Yesterday we got some swan plants for our classroom. They already have some caterpillars and eggs on them. We will get to watch them grow and change. We hope they don't eat all the leaves too quickly.

We have been working hard in our classroom. Reading is fun. We get to read different books and then do some fun activities with them.

Friday 13 Feb

Hi
Black Friday - but we have had a good day at school. This morning Mrs Johnston took us to the library so we have all got library books to take home.
Bailey G brought a postcard that he had got from Bryn H. Bryn's living in the Cook Islands now. Maybe Bryn could get to read this site too. Hello Bryn if you do!!!! We find it funny to hear that it is too hot for you to go swimming...we haven't been this week because it has been too cold.
Today we had an assembly in the library with Room 6, 8 and 11. We sang lots of songs. Bailey L and Madison got assembly certificates.
Next week on Friday we are having a house mufti day and fun activity afternoon - more details next week.

Cool Hall

This is our old hall being taken apart. The walls have been demolished and we wonder when they will start building new walls. There was a man on the roof - perhaps he is taking the roof off as well. This big fence keeps us out. There is a plan on the school notice board that shows what the new hall will look like.

Yes we are getting new basketball hoops that turn around to be netball hoops as well. But at the moment there is no court space for them.

Monday 9 Feb

Today we went for a swim in the school pool. It was warm and we showed Mrs Cooper what we could do in the pool. We need to remember our togs every day so we can go swimming.

Today Madison joined our room. She has made friends already. Welcome to Highfield Madison.

In Maths we drew 3 D shapes. They were very hard to draw but we are very clever at naming them.

We compared ourselves with a classmate today and put our findings onto a venn diagram. Have a look in our topic books next time you visit our room.

It has been very noisey at school today. The workmen have been busy breaking up concrete near the school hall and trucks have been coming in with new soil for the old adventure playground. It is getting new matting put down this week.

Geometry

We are using 2 D shapes to draw pictures. Tonight we have to have a look at home to see what we can find that is made of a circle, a square or a rectangle.
